Since quarantine began, I have not been able to stop listening to the song New Mistake by Jellyfish, one of my favorite bands from the early 90s which never came to popularity. The lead singer Andy Sturmer described this song as about being “licking your wounds and not slashing your wrists” which in this current time is a reminder to me that I shouldn’t be beating myself up about my faults right now. Although the lyrics describe loving your new mistake as a new baby, as the band Jellyfish would want me to, I interpret it differently. Things are scary and anxiety and fear within my family and myself over all of this has caused me to not be my most productive, but I need to remind myself, with the help of this song, that it’s ok. Every time I “fall”, my family and friends will be there to catch me.

Deepfakes
The first deepfake I ever saw was when I was watching Bill Hader, a comedian I love, doing impressions on talkshows. I clicked on the video above, not knowing what a deepfake was and as I watched the video, the transition from Hader’s face to Al Pacino was so subtle that at first, I really thought Bill was doing it on his own. I was beyond amazed until I saw the comments and they revealed that Al Pacino’s and Arnold S’s face were superimposed on Bill Hader’s face.
The fact that people can do this is extremely impressive and terrifying at the same time. With facial recognition being so prevalent, this has a lot of scary potential.
Slightly Mean Video about Greta
Poor girl can’t catch a break. She does actually have a song collaboration with The 1975. I’ve listened to it, and it’s not bad.
Primiti Too Taa
Primiti Too Taa is an odd (pointless) movement that for some reason the viewers of the youtube video seem to really enjoy in the comments. Some people wrote Husker Du in the comments which is bringing up some small memory that the band chose their name based on this movement(?). I could be wrong, but honestly I don’t care enough to know.
I might as well look it up while I’m here. Nevermind, wikipedia said that the name Husker Du is from a board game. Those people in the comments must have just been very passionate about that band.
