The first deepfake I ever saw was when I was watching Bill Hader, a comedian I love, doing impressions on talkshows. I clicked on the video above, not knowing what a deepfake was and as I watched the video, the transition from Hader’s face to Al Pacino was so subtle that at first, I really thought Bill was doing it on his own. I was beyond amazed until I saw the comments and they revealed that Al Pacino’s and Arnold S’s face were superimposed on Bill Hader’s face.
The fact that people can do this is extremely impressive and terrifying at the same time. With facial recognition being so prevalent, this has a lot of scary potential.
